The UNESCO Chair of Intercultural Policy for an Active Citizenship and Solidarity st at the University of Macedonia, organizes a three-day open online educational seminar of 21 hours entitled: “UNESCO actions for Inclusive and Equitable Education under the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”.

The seminar is organized as part of the Chair’s participation in the UNESCO public consultation on the future of education on the initiative “Futures of Education: Learning to Become” as well as on the UNESCO Chairs’ collaborative initiative “UNESCO Chairs for Sustainable Futures”.
The seminar’s aim is to inform and raise awareness among the education actors involved, stakeholders, and education policy makers on the issues related to the Right to Inclusive and Equitable Education, particularly at a time of key and critical nature due to the impact of COVID-19.
The seminar is designed for teachers at all levels, education actors, students, academics and researchers, local authorities (regions and municipalities) and more broadly for an active civil society collectively.
Ms Ekaterini Tzitzikosta, President of the National Commission for UNESCO in Greece, Professor Evgenia Alexandropoulou – Egyptiadou, Vice Rector of the University of Macedonia, and Associate Professor Despoina Anagnostopoulou, Director of the UNESCO Chair of “Intercultural Policy for an Active Citizenship and Solidarity” of the University of Macedonia, will open the proceedings by giving a warm seminar welcome.
Distinguished lectures and contributions will be presented in the seminar from well-established academics, bodies and representatives of international and European institutions as well as in the field of education, researchers and scientific associates of the Chair.
In addition to the members of the academic community of the University of Macedonia and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, as well as the staff of the UNESCO Chair, inter alios, the following participants will deliver their lectures:
The 21-hour seminar will be held on three consecutive Mondays from 16:00 to 22:00 and its structure is tripartite with topics broken down into 14 sessions:
Day 1, Monday 24 May 2021: THE RIGHT TO EDUCATION – UNESCO’s MAIN GOAL
Day 2, Monday 31 May 2021: INCLUSIVE EDUCATION – EDUCATION OF SOCIALLY VULNERABLE GROUPS
Day 3, Monday 7 June 2021: UNESCO ACTIONS – SUSTAINABLE CITIES
12 Media and Information Literacy Cities (in English)
Throughout the seminar attendees will have the opportunity to be informed about the research findings of the 42 UNESCO Chair interns. Their research was conducted under the supervision of the Chair and its scientific associates, as part of their two-month internship (7 April – 7 June 2021).
Participants in the three-day seminar will receive a certificate of attendance at the provided upon registration e-mail address. Certificates will be sent within 15 days from the completion of the seminar.
