International Conference entitled: “Art communicating conflict resolution: An intercultural dialogue”.

The conference is co-organised by the Municipality of Thessaloniki and the UNESCO Chair “Intercultural Policy for an Active Citizenship and Solidarity” of the University of Macedonia and takes place at the Town Hall of Thessaloniki (City Council Hall), on Thursday, June 30th, 2022 (10.30-17.00).

The conference is under the auspices of the UNESCO Hellenic National Commission, the UN Regional Information Office for Western Europe and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

The Conference takes place in the framework of the art exhibition “Art Communicating Conflict Resolution”, curated by Vasia Deligianni, which opens in Thessaloniki on June 29th, 2022, at 19.30, at Casa Bianca, the building hosting the Municipal Gallery of Thessaloniki, and lasts until the 31st of July 2022.

The international conference has received the financial support of the Thessaloniki Bar Association, the Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce and Industry as well as the sponsorship of the Hotel “HYATT REGENCY THESSALONIKI”.

The conference is conducted live in English without any interpretation in Greek. The conference is organised under the scientific supervision of Dr Eleni Fotiadou, Lawyer, Audiovisual artist and includes contributions from 12 speakers from all over the world (Brazil, Ethiopia, France, Great Britain, Israel, U.S.A.).

The Conference will be welcomed by the Mayor of Thessaloniki, Konstantinos Zervas, the Deputy Mayor of Culture and Tourism of Thessaloniki, Maria Karagianni, the Rector of the University of Macedonia, Professor Stylianos Katranidis, the President of the Hellenic National Committee for UNESCO, Aikaterini Tzitzikosta and Petros Mastakas, Protection Officer (a.i), UNHCR of Thessaloniki.

The conference consists of two sessions.

The 1st Session will be held from 11.00 to 13.00 and will be chaired by Associate Professor Despina Anagnostopoulou, University of Macedonia, Department of International and European Studies, Jean Monnet Chair, Academic Coordinator of the Jean Monnet Project “EUVadis on Intercultural Dialogue, EU Values, and Diversity” and of the UNESCO Chair of “Intercultural Policy for an Active Citizenship and Solidarity”.

In this session the following experts will take part:

 

A discussion with the audience will follow and then a buffet break.

The 2nd Session will be held from 14.00 to 17.00 and will be chaired by Assistant Prof. Kalliopi Chainoglou, University of Macedonia, Department of European and International Studies, Research Associate of the UNESCO Chair of Intercultural Policy.
