{"id":1332,"date":"2024-09-16T17:06:57","date_gmt":"2024-09-16T14:06:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/unescochair.uom.gr\/?p=1332&#038;lang=en"},"modified":"2024-09-19T09:37:12","modified_gmt":"2024-09-19T06:37:12","slug":"3rd-international-student-conference-media-and-information-literach-intercultural-dialogue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unescochair.uom.gr\/?p=1332","title":{"rendered":"3rd International Student Conference &#8220;Media and Information Literacy &amp; Intercultural Dialogue&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>3<\/strong><strong><sup>rd<\/sup><\/strong><strong> INTERNATIONAL STUDENT CONFERENCE<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ORGANIZED BY THE INTERNS OF THE UNESCO CHAIR \u201cINTERCULTURAL POLICY FOR AN ACTIVE CITIZENSHIP AND SOLIDARITY\u201d&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MACEDONIA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The Conference is financed by the University of Macedonia<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\u201cMEDIA AND INFORMATION LITERACY &amp; INTERCULTURAL DIALOGUE\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Thursday 19<\/strong><strong><sup>th<\/sup><\/strong><strong> September 2024, 09:30-18:00&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>&amp; Friday 20<\/strong><strong><sup>th<\/sup><\/strong><strong> September 2024, 11:30-21:00<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Amphitheater 14, University of Macedonia&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>and Conference Room (only from 16.30 \u2013 21.00 on Friday 20<\/strong><strong><sup>th<\/sup><\/strong><strong> September)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Under the auspices of the<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Hellenic National Commission for UNESCO<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Celebrating the 20 years since the establishment of the UNESCO Chair of Intercultural Policy for an Active Citizenship and Solidarity&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 20 interns of the UNESCO Chair \u201cIntercultural Policy for an Active Citizenship and Solidarity\u201d of the University of Macedonia in collaboration with the aforementioned UNESCO Chair are organizing a two-day open student conference entitled: <strong>\u201cMEDIA AND INFORMATION LITERACY &amp; INTERCULTURAL DIALOGUE\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The conference will be held on Thursday 19<sup>th<\/sup> September and Friday 20<sup>th<\/sup> September 2024, during 09:30-18:00 on the first day and on 11.30-21.00 the second day. It is open to all without any charge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The conference is organized with the main objective of promoting Education, Culture and Democracy within the framework of the 17 Global Sustainable Development Goals. More specifically, the conference promotes the literacy of students and citizens as well as civil society stakeholders in Media and Information with the ultimate goal of the resilience and sustainability of cities through the utilization of the humanization of technologies, creativity, innovation of its members and the promotion of intercultural dialogue, human rights and participatory democracy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The conference aims to develop skills, know-how and attitudes that will contribute to the development of initiatives, actions, programs and partnerships regarding media and information literacy by promoting: a) freedom of expression, b) freedom of information and free flow of ideas and knowledge, c) citizen participation, d) understanding and reconciliation between cultures on a global level, and e) contribution to the achievement of the 17 Global Sustainable Development Goals (mainly promoting SDG4 &amp; SDG16, but also SDG10, SDG11 &amp; SDG17).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The conference is addressed to students, academics and researchers, teachers of all levels, educational institutions, pupils, local government bodies (region and municipalities), active citizens and to the civil society.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Permanent Representative of Greece to UNESCO, Ambassador Mr. G. Koumoutsakos, the Representative of UNESCO UNITWIN, Ms. Inga Nichanian, the President of the Greek National Commission of UNESCO, Ms. A. Tzitzikosta, and the General Director of the Hellenic Authority for Higher Education and Dr. Ch. Besta will&nbsp; give an online welcome greeting to the Conference. Professor Dimitrios Skiadas, Head of the Department of International and European Studies and Jean Monnet Chairholder as well as a representative of the Municipality (tbc) will also make welcome remarks.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the conference the 20 interns of the UNESCO Chair of Intercultural Policy will present their research, as part of their internship for the Academic Year 2023-24.&nbsp;
