The interns of UNESCO Chair in Intercultural Policy for An Active Citizenship and Solidarity of University of Macedonia and the UNESCO chair in question organize a two-day open online training conference under the title: “Quality Education in the Digital Age: Policies and Actions of UNESCO, the EU and Greece”.

The conference is addressed to academics and researchers, university students, school teachers of all levels, educational institutions, students, local authorities (regional and municipal) and all active citizens.

The Conference will be held online, via the Zoom platform. The access link is the same for both days and attendees must register before each day. The link is the following:

The conference will be addressed by, among others, the representative of UNESCO UNITWIN Ms. Inga Nichanian, the President of the Hellenic National Commission for UNESCO, Ms. Tzitzikosta, the Director General of the National Authority for Higher Education, Ms. Ch. Besta, and the Vice Rector of the University of Macedonia, Ms. Alexandropoulou-Agyptiadou.

The conference will present the research of the 25 interns of the UNESCO Chair in Intercultural Policy, which will be accompanied by the lectures and contributions of renowned academics, institutions, and representatives of international and European institutions as well as the field of education, researchers and scientific collaborators of the UNESCO Chair.

There are 2 sessions in the conference, conducted in English (without interpretation), where representatives of the following UNESCO Chairs (in alphabetical order), among others, will participate by presenting:

Oι ασκούμενοι της Έδρας UNESCO «Διαπολιτισμική Πολιτική για μια Δραστήρια και Αλληλέγγυα Ιθαγένεια» του Πανεπιστημίου Μακεδονίας σε συνεργασία με την εν λόγω Έδρα UNESCO διοργανώνουν διήμερο ανοιχτό διαδικτυακό φοιτητικό συνέδριο με τίτλο:
«Ποιοτική Εκπαίδευση στην Ψηφιακή Εποχή: Πολιτικές και Δράσεις της UNESCO, της ΕΕ και η εφαρμογή τους στην Ελλάδα».
Το συνέδριο θα διεξαχθεί δωρεάν τη Δευτέρα στις 29 και Τρίτη 30 Μαΐου, ώρες 16.00-22.00 στον σύνδεσμο Zoom link: https://shorturl.at/jmQUZ, όπου πρέπει να γίνει εγγραφή ώστε να σταλεί ο ατομικός σύνδεσμος στην ηλεκτρονική διεύθυνση που θα δηλωθεί.

Το συνέδριο διοργανώνεται με στόχο την ενίσχυση του διαλόγου και την ευαισθητοποίηση στην Ελλάδα αναφορικά με την επίτευξη του Στόχου Αειφόρου Ανάπτυξης 4 για Ποιοτική Εκπαίδευση την εποχή του ψηφιακού μετασχηματισμού και σύμφωνα με τα Σχέδια Δράσης του ΟΗΕ, UNESCO και ΕΕ, καθώς και τις τελευταίες υψηλού επιπέδου Εκπαιδευτικές Συνδιασκέψεις.

Το συνέδριο απευθύνεται σε ακαδημαϊκούς και ερευνητές, φοιτητές, εκπαιδευτικούς όλων των βαθμίδων, φορείς της εκπαίδευσης, μαθητές, φορείς της τοπικής αυτοδιοίκησης (περιφέρειας και δήμων) και ευρύτερα σε όλη την κοινωνία των ενεργών πολιτών.

Το συνέδριο θα χαιρετίσουν, μεταξύ άλλων, η εκπρόσωπος της UNESCO UNITWIN κα Inga Nichanian, η Πρόεδρος της Ελληνικής Εθνικής Επιτροπής για την UNESCO κα Αι. Τζιτζικώστα, και η γενική διευθύντρια της Εθνικής Αρχής Ανώτατης Εκπαίδευσης κα Χ. Μπέστα.

Στο συνέδριο παρουσιάζεται η έρευνα των 25 ασκουμένων φοιτητών της Εδρας UNESCO Διαπολιτισμικής Πολιτικής, η οποία πλαισιώνεται από τις διαλέξεις και εισηγήσεις καταξιωμένων ακαδημαϊκών, φορέων και εκπροσώπων των διεθνών και ευρωπαϊκών θεσμών καθώς και του χώρου της εκπαίδευσης, ερευνητών και επιστημονικών συνεργατών της Έδρας UNESCO.

Στο συνέδριο υπάρχουν 2 συνεδρίες που διεξάγονται στην αγγλική γλώσσα (χωρίς διερμηνεία) όπου συμμετέχουν με εισήγηση, μεταξύ άλλων, οι εκπρόσωποι των παρακάτω Εδρών UNESCO (με αλφαβητική σειρά):

Οι συμμετέχουσες και συμμετέχοντες στο διήμερο φοιτητικό συνέδριο θα λάβουν πιστοποιητικό παρακολούθησης από την Έδρα UNESCO Διαπολιτισμικής Πολιτικής για μία Δραστήρια και Αλληλέγγυα Ιθαγένεια στη διεύθυνση ηλεκτρονικού ταχυδρομείου τους, το οποίο θα παραληφθεί με την εγγραφή τους. Η αποστολή των πιστοποιητικών θα γίνει εντός 15 ημερών μετά την ολοκλήρωση του Συνεδρίου.

Πρόγραμμα Συνεδρίου

The UNESCO Chair in Intercultural Policy for an Active Citizenship and Solidarity of University of Macedonia was invited by the Director of EBLIDA, Giuseppe Vitiello, to participate in the 30th EBLIDA Conference “Library Commitments towards a sustainable, democratic and equitable society” that took place in Athens at Goethe-Institute from 14th  till 16th of June 2022,  under the auspices of the City of Athens.

Based in The Hague, EBLIDA is an independent union of associations and institutions of libraries, documentation centers and archives in Europe, bringing together around 110 members – library associations and institutions – from 34 countries representing 65,000 public libraries in Europe.

EBLIDA celebrated its 30 years of existence, aiming at fostering the debate and inclusive dialogue between officials and citizens so that libraries may become meeting and learning places for citizens. 

The Conference was welcomed by the Mayor of Athens, Kostas Bakoyannis, and the President of the General Council for Libraries at the Greek Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs, Tonia Arahova. The  Deputy Minister of Education and Religious Affairs in Greece, Professor Angelos Syrigos was the keynote speaker who opened the Conference.

Associate Professor Despoina Anagnostopoulou, academic coordinator of the UNESCO Chair and Anastasia Psallida, PhD Candidate and research associate, presented the topic “The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in European Union policies”. The presentation highlighted the Sustainable Development Goals SDG4 on Quality Education and SDG16 on Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions and was delivered at the first session of the EBLIDA International Conference, chaired by EBLIDA President Ton van Vlimmeren.

Iro (Argyroula) Tzorbatzaki, Librarian at the University of Macedonia Library and Vice-President of the Union of Greek Librarians and Information Scientists, made an important contribution to the Conference organization, while Anthi Baliou, Librarian at the University of Macedonia Library, also participated in the conference. 

The Conference offered to participants the common programme EBLIDA – NAPLE – Public Libraries 2030  entitled “Libraries on the European Agenda – network and co-creation”.

ART COMMUNICATING CONFLICT RESOLUTION:

International Conference entitled: “Art communicating conflict resolution: An intercultural dialogue”.

The conference is co-organised by the Municipality of Thessaloniki and the UNESCO Chair “Intercultural Policy for an Active Citizenship and Solidarity” of the University of Macedonia and takes place at the Town Hall of Thessaloniki (City Council Hall), on Thursday, June 30th, 2022 (10.30-17.00).

The conference is under the auspices of the UNESCO Hellenic National Commission, the UN Regional Information Office for Western Europe and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

The Conference takes place in the framework of the art exhibition “Art Communicating Conflict Resolution”, curated by Vasia Deligianni, which opens in Thessaloniki on June 29th, 2022, at 19.30, at Casa Bianca, the building hosting the Municipal Gallery of Thessaloniki, and lasts until the 31st of July 2022.

The international conference has received the financial support of the Thessaloniki Bar Association, the Thessaloniki Chamber of Commerce and Industry as well as the sponsorship of the Hotel “HYATT REGENCY THESSALONIKI”.

The conference is conducted live in English without any interpretation in Greek. The conference is organised under the scientific supervision of Dr Eleni Fotiadou, Lawyer, Audiovisual artist and includes contributions from 12 speakers from all over the world (Brazil, Ethiopia, France, Great Britain, Israel, U.S.A.).

The Conference will be welcomed by the Mayor of Thessaloniki, Konstantinos Zervas, the Deputy Mayor of Culture and Tourism of Thessaloniki, Maria Karagianni, the Rector of the University of Macedonia, Professor Stylianos Katranidis, the President of the Hellenic National Committee for UNESCO, Aikaterini Tzitzikosta and Petros Mastakas, Protection Officer (a.i), UNHCR of Thessaloniki.

The conference consists of two sessions.

The 1st Session will be held from 11.00 to 13.00 and will be chaired by Associate Professor Despina Anagnostopoulou, University of Macedonia, Department of International and European Studies, Jean Monnet Chair, Academic Coordinator of the Jean Monnet Project “EUVadis on Intercultural Dialogue, EU Values, and Diversity” and of the UNESCO Chair of “Intercultural Policy for an Active Citizenship and Solidarity”.
